The NAP Technical Working Group is a collaboration between the LEG and various organizations that provide technical advice to countries on NAPs. Their work advances technical guidance on NAPs, building on the UNFCCC technical guidelines and the various supplements to this developed by many partners. The group is working towards coherence advice on NAPs, and supports the LEG in organization of technical events such as the NAP Expo and various training activities on NAPs.
Scope of work
The NAP Technical Working Group is currently focusing on the following work areas:
(a) On pooling together, the latest and most appropriate approaches, tools and methods for the different elements of the process to formulate and implement NAPs;
(b) On designing an integrating framework for the assessments to underpin the formulation of NAPs and ways to effectively implement the NAPs, including through working on country case studies through the Open NAP initiative;
(c) Elaborating how the formulation and implementation of NAPs can serve to address climate change concerns across all applicable SDGs;
(d) Supporting the LEG in organization of NAP Expos and the work under the Open NAP initiative.
Organization
The NAP technical working group is consist of bodies, organizations, regional centres and networks that provide technical support to developing countries on the process to formulate and implement NAPs.
The working group holds regular meetings on the margins of the intersessional meetings, NAP related events and more recently, virtually.
