Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region is facing important agro-environmental threats and challenges, including water scarcity and drought, soil degradation, biodiversity loss, deforestation, and extreme events and natural disasters, that have significant impacts over agri-food systems and its key role at the regional economy and in the global food supply. This session will showcase good practices and lessons learned related to climate change adaptation in the LAC region associated with agriculture, water, biodiversity, forests, and soils. Moreover, the session is aimed at discussing and exchanging on how national adaptation policies and instruments can support regional climate action through mechanisms such as the Climate Action Platform for Agriculture in Latin America and the Caribbean (PLACA), with a focus on the agriculture sector.
