Climate change affects young people both directly and indirectly through disruptions in the social, economic, and environmental determinants of physical and mental health, particularly those living in developing counties which account to 87% of young people globally. On the other hand, young people can contribute to decision-making and building resilience by raising ambition, bringing innovation and creativity, and upholding intergenerational justice and equity. The session will raise awareness on the benefits of youth participation in adaptation policy- and decision-making processes, share lessons on preparing youth to withstand climate change impacts, showcase youth-led adaptation solutions, and identify good practices, methodologies, and recommendations to prepare the Guide on Youth Engagement in NAPs.
