2.2.2 Transformative adaptation approaches for building the resilience of people and ecosystems: experiences from the SADC region (GWP)

The session will provide a platform to share experiences and lessons learned from the SADC Secretariat, Member States and GWP towards transformative adaptation approaches for building the resilience of people and ecosystems. It will focus around SADC’s regional approach in responding to impacts of climate change (providing a regional framework for harmonized and coordinated regional and national actions); ReNOKA – an inclusive and holistic movement to protecting and conserving the natural resources of Lesotho and the Orange-Senqu River Basin as a whole; Lesotho’s integrated catchment management approach for building resilience of local communities and ecosystems; Zambia’s comprehensive and phased approach of NAP in addressing both short-term adaptation needs and also in integrating climate change adaptation in long-term strategic plans; and Gender transformative approaches in water security and climate resilience building in Zambia.
