The LEG is actively engaging with countries to assist them with the formulation of their NAP, hopefully to be submitted by end of 2020 or soon after.
The Open NAP is an initiative designed to provide technical assistance to those developing countries needing support in pulling together their NAP, following the view of the NAP as an umbrella programme for adaptation for countries. This view goes beyond the NAP as the simple output of a limited project designed to produce a single plan., rather, the NAP is a dynamic and living document that captures the adaptation needs of the country at a given point in time, with continuing assessments leading to an updated version when the need arises.
The Open NAP builds on current and new projects in the countries to formulate the NAP, in particular those efforts funded through the GCF Readiness Support for the formulation of NAPs.
The LEG conducted a workshop for 18 LDCs in September 2019 in Nairobi, and continues to follow these 18 with a hope to assisting them submit a NAP this year. These were selected based on their having made less progress than others, as concluded from the Annual progress report on NAPs.
