Sonam Khandu Sonam Lhaden Khandu

Sonam Lhaden Khandu is a Deputy Chief Environment Officer under the Climate Change Division of the National Environment Commission Secretariat (NECS), Bhutan. She has Bachelors in Environmental Engineering from Thammasat University in Thailand and a Masters in Climate Change from The Australian National University, Australia. She has been working with the NECS from 2006 till date.

Her responsibilities include supporting all activities pertaining to climate change in Bhutan especially adaptation. She is also the Project Manager of the Bhutan’s second National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA) project amounting to USD 11.49 million. She is also the coordinator of the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) in Bhutan.
