Karin Zaunberger is a biologist. She worked for 5 years in the European Parliament and 10 years in the Research Department of the European Commission where she followed research projects in the field of biodiversity and adaptation. In 2007 she joined the Environment Department as policy officer. Her main portfolio is the biodiversity-climate change link. In this function she tries to promote ecosystem-based approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation. She also follows the EU’s BEST initiative for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystems in the EU Outermost Regions and Overseas Countries and Territories.
