Selected papers on M&E developed under the UKCIP in 2014 of relevance to those producing NAPs

1) Bours, D., McGinn, C. and Pringle, P. 2014. Monitoring & evaluation for climate change adaptation and resilience: A synthesis of tools, frameworks and approaches, 2nd edition. SEA Change CoP, Phnom Penh and UKCIP, Oxford

This report from UKCIP AND SEA Change reviews the current major monitoring and evaluation frameworks, identifying key strengths, gaps, and the most suitable audiences for each resource. It highlights the opportunities and challenges facing the implementation of climate change adaptation programmes, enabling professionals and practitioners to identify which materials will help them most.

2) Monitoring and evaluation guidance notes  (2014)

In a series of Guidance notes, SEA Change and UKCIP examine the complexities of monitoring and evaluation of climate adaptation programmes. Three short reports look at the specific challenges of M&E for climate change adaptation, how to select indicators, and examine how the Theory of Change approach works in this context.

Guidance note 1: Twelve reasons why climate change adaptation M&E is challenging  http://www.ukcip.org.uk/wordpress/wp-content/PDFs/MandE-Guidance-Note1.pdf

Guidance note 2: Selecting indicators for climate change adaptation programming http://www.ukcip.org.uk/wordpress/wp-content/PDFs/MandE-Guidance-Note2.pdf

Guidance note 3: Theory of Change approach to climate change adaptation programming  http://www.ukcip.org.uk/wordpress/wp-content/PDFs/MandE-Guidance-Note3.pdf

3) Monitoring and Evaluation Reviews (ERs)

This is a series of reviews distilling findings from recent evaluations of climate change M&E. This may not be as useful for the national level as the focus is generally on projects and programmes so you may not want to circulate these if you have limited space. However, they may of interest to M&E practitioners working in specific locations or on specific issues.
