Payai Manyok John

Payai Manyok John is an organized, pains-taking professional person with varied desirable qualities of leadership and a hard-working, dedicated and committed-person with a sense of responsibility, humour and team spirit. He is a highly qualified and well-trained in the field of Climate Change and Policy as well as the Natural Resource Management by professional with a Bachelor Degree (BSc) in Sustainable Natural Resources Management at Ndejje University (Uganda) and MSc. Climate Science and Policy at Teri University, New Delhi- India respectively.

During the course of over 9 years of his career, Mr. John had gained a wealth of experience in the fields of Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation, Livelihood Vulnerability assessment, food security, Projects Development and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation of projects and programme. He is a chief negotiator for climate Change under UNFCCC for South Sudan since COP20 (COP20, COP21, COP22 and COP23) and a team leader for the development and Implementation of NAPA and NDCs in South Sudan.

Currently, he is Deputy Director of Climate Change and a UNFCCC National Focal Point for South Sudan in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of South Sudan/Juba. In addition to the above, Mr. John held senior positions in the Ministry of Environment such as Senior Inspector for Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and a Team leader of the Natural Resources Component under the World Bank project on Regional Livestock Project on Pastoral and livelihoods in the IGAD Region.

Also, he is a National Focal Point for IGAD Drought Disaster Resilience and Sustainability initiatives (IDDRSI) and Secretary for South Sudan Technical Steering Committee platform on Drought Resilience
