Janie Rioux is the Senior Agriculture and Food Security Specialist at the Green Climate Fund. In this capacity she advises the pipeline and portfolio related to climate resilient and low emissions agriculture, rural livelihoods and food security. This includes strategic engagement with developing countries and accredited entities, review and assessment of funding proposals, and technical assistance to portfolio management. Janie has fourteen years of experience in project design, implementation and evaluation working with international organizations. Prior to joining the GCF, she was a Natural Resources Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, where she coordinated pilot projects on climate-resilient agriculture in East Africa linking research, practice and policy. She also worked on capacity building for NAPs and NAMAs; monitoring and evaluation of GEF projects related to agroecosystems management and land degradation assessment; and on food security and vulnerability analysis and mapping. Janie graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and holds a Master in Regional Planning with specialization in early warning system and food security.
