Waltraud Ederer works as advisor at the German development agency, the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in the field of Climate Risk Management. The global programme on Risk Assessment and Management for Adaptation to Climate Change develops approaches for climate risk assessments and comprehensive climate risk management (CRM). It aims to foster the international dialogue on the topics of climate risk management and Loss & Damage. The main activities include advancements of climate risk assessments and climate risk management approaches (studies, workshops, events) and the development and roll out of the training course “Dealing with climate-related Loss and Damage as part of comprehensive climate risk management”.
She holds a Masters degree in Sustainability Economics and Management and has prior experience in the fields of product carbon footprinting, sustainable land management and economics of land degradation.
