Mr. Tlou Ramaru is the Chief Director: Climate Change Adaptation in the Department of Environmental Affairs, South Africa. His responsibilities entail oversight to the development of the National Adaptation Strategy and associated frameworks. He coordinates efforts responding to climate change impacts through building adaptive capacity, natural resources and socio-economic resilience and emergency response capacity in South Africa. He further coordinate mainstreaming and integration of adaptation objectives across sectors and spheres of government (national, provincial and local). He previously coordinated South Africa engagement in Rio+20 and formulation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
