Johnson N. Nkem is Senior Climate Adaptation Expert with the African Climate Policy Center (ACPC), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Prior to joining ACPC, he was with UNDP as Policy Specialist in Cambodia, and the Environment and Energy Group at the Regional Center in Dakar as Policy Advisor for the Climate Change and Development – CC DARE programme funded by the Danish Government for adaptation in Sub Saharan Africa. His work in research include the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) as Project Manager for the Tropical Forests and Climate Change Adaptation project implemented in eight countries across three global regions of Central America, Southeast Asia and West Africa, and as project leader for the Congo Basin Forests and Climate Change Adaptation project. His other experiences include working as a research scientist at the Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory, Colorado State University; and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). Besides research and development, his experiences include industries working for Cameroon Development Corporation, and also for Del Monte Fresh Fruits Company. Johnson has published several peer reviewed articles in reputable journals, working papers, policy briefs, book chapters and reports. He was a lead author for the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report. Most recently, he contributed to the Economic Report for Africa, ERA2016 on Greening Africa’s Industrialisation. Johnson is a Cameroonian and holds a PhD in natural resource management from the University of New England, Australia.
