John Furlow is a Climate Change Specialist leading adaptation work in USAID’s Climate Change Office. John provides support to USAID Missions and developing country partners as they address climate risks that could undermine development priorities. John led the development of USAID’s Climate Change Adaptation Guidance Manual and the Climate Change and Coastal Management Guide.  John was the USAID lead in designing and managing the Adaptation Partnership, an effort to catalyze action on adaptation. John led an effort to help Jamaica write a suite of new national sectoral policies that address climate risks and opportunities for reducing emissions. Prior to joining USAID, John worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Global Change Research Program, where he designed and managed projects examining the impacts of climate change on water quality.
