Akiko Urakami Akiko Urakami

Akiko Urakami works with the Ministry of Environment of Japan, where she is in charge of facilitating capacity development for climate change issues in the Asia-Pacific region through organization of a variety of workshops (since 2011). She also works on negotiations on the adaptation-related agenda under the UNFCCC (since April 2013). She is a Steering Committee member of NAP Global Network.

Since April 2015, she had engaged in the development of ten case studies focusing on mainstreaming adaptation into development plans as well as implementation of adaptation projects in different sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, she was in charge of organizing a workshop on this topic on 29th and 30th October 2015. In FY2016, she also engages in developing ten case studies in a similar approach.

Ms. Urakami graduated with an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London (2011). She also has experience as a Climate Change Specialist at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), where she worked for approximately three years (2007-  2010).
