Sameera Savarala Sameera Savarala

A Master of Environmental Management Candidate at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Sameera is researching efficient mechanisms for integrating and implementing sustainable development and climate change policy at the international level. Prior to joining Yale, Sameera worked as a communications coordinator for the Chicago Department of Environment’s Chicago Conservation Corps Program. She later attended the UN Commission on Sustainable Development and the Rio+20 Earth Summit as a civil society advisor on the United States delegation. She recently worked in Cambodia for a human rights NGO that focused on land tenure. While at Yale, she assisted the Sri Lankan delegation to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, co-led the Yale Environmental Law Association, and attended the Third United Nations Conference on Small Island Developing States (UNSIDS). For the past year, she has been a Fellow at the Global Island Partnership focusing on political leadership towards island sustainable development strategies.
