Flavio Cucchietti, senior researcher and senior project manager within Telecom Italia Innovation Center in Turin (Italy), is managing energy efficiency and sustainability aspects related to standardization across the whole spectrum of the ICT, ranging from the energy efficiency of home and network equipment to e-waste to Smart Grids and Smart Cities. From 1988 is active in standardization and is currently member of many standardization groups acting on Energy Efficient, Sustainable ICT and on ICT for Smart Grids and Services.
His current activities involve direct participation to many study groups and technical committees within ITU-T, ETSI, CEI and EC-JRC and indirect participation through the management of the whole Telecom Italia contribution to IEC-CENELEC and CEI.
He has been working along these years to foster cooperation among all stakeholders and looking at standardization as a natural endpoint of research and development activities in order to accelerate the availability of more economically viable and socially responsible equipment and services.
Cooperates with EC and IEA on energy efficiency initiatives. He is vice Chair of ITU-T Study Group 5 (environment and climate change), co-Chair of the WP2 (Smart Cities and Communities) of ITU-T 20 (IoT and SC&C) and is Board member of CEI, the Italian standardization institution in the electrical, electronic and telecommunications area.
