Board member of the Green Climate Fund representing 48 Least Developed Countries (LDCs) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for the period January 2016 – December 2017. The GCF is an international entity designed to assist developing countries in undertaking climate change actions. The Fund currently has over US$ 10 billion in its reserves.
Lead Negotiator on climate finance since 2009 for the 48 LDCs under the UNFCCC. Under this responsibility, I have negotiated the establishment of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and served briefly in the Transitional Committee for the Fund. I have been Advisor to the GCF Board member from Zambia representing the LDCs.
Served as member of the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee that oversees the implementation of Article 6 of the Kyoto Protocol under the UNFCCC between the period January 2010 to December 2014.
National Focal Point and Desk Officer responsible for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the First, Second and Third National Communications for Malawi, the National Adaptation Programmes of Action, Bi-ennual Update Report, the Global Environment Facility and Green Climate Fund issues in Malawi. The UNFCCC, GEF and GCF are international bodies each of them serving over 200 governments in the world.
